Established in 1993, A-One Insurance is one of the UK’s premier insurance brokers.
As a Top 75 Independent Insurance Broker, we’ve sourced over 24,000 policies and managed over £21 million in claims. Our team have a deep insight into the insurance requirements of each sector, and will provide you with a personal, one-to-one service and policy tailored to your unique needs.

Who we are
A-One Insurance began life in a small office in Bournemouth, without a single policy to its name. Founder Ian Penfold wouldn’t be dissuaded – fuelled by enthusiasm and an understanding of how a quality client-focused business should be run, he put in the work and looked for avenues to grow the company.
After a short period as personal insurance brokers, we ventured into the more niche sector of high-value sports car policies. We quickly became trusted by clients who wanted a bespoke service against the backdrop of faceless call centres and direct insurers.
A deliberate change of strategy in 1998 led to us entering the commercial insurance market. With trusted insurer partners, a dedicated claims team, and a specialist advice service, it didn’t take long for us to cement ourselves as a leading commercial brokerage in the Dorset area.
In 2002, we took our first steps into the acquisition market by purchasing two local brokers. We transformed these largely developed personal businesses into a full brokerage, expanding our commercial services.
Over the following ten years, we acquired a further four businesses, developed our carefully selected partner network, and expanded our services to cover a wider range of policies.
Today, we’re proud to look after over £40m worth of policy premiums, supported by 140 valued members of staff across eight locations. Our client-first focus today is even stronger, and with the flexibility to conduct business over the phone, video link, or in person, it’s never been easier to get started with us.

Our in-house claims department
Here at A-One, we benefit from an in-house claims department. This means that should you need to make a claim on your policy, you will be appointed a dedicated claims handler to manage your claim from start to finish. Our handlers will bridge the gat between you, our client and your insurer and will work to achieve the best possible outcome on your behalf.
